Daniel Nielson O.D. FCOVD

DEVELOPMENTAL OPTOMETRIST

After witnessing a child go from reading below grade level to above grade level within a matter of months as a result of optometric vision therapy, Dr. Nielson decided to dedicate his professional career to Developmental Optometry and Vision Therapy. Having had vision problems since he was 12 years old and witnessing the impact of vision improvement first hand, Dr. Nielson was on a mission to become an eye doctor.

He is one of two doctors in Idaho who are board certified in vision development, vision therapy and vision rehabilitation. He completed his BS degree from Brigham Young University in both Rexburg and Provo, and then his doctor of optometry at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. He went on to complete a residency at Child and Family Eyecare in Wichita, Kansas where he received specific training in Pediatrics, Vision Therapy, and Neuro-Rehabilitation.

Dr. Nielson served as a staff optometrist for a rehabilitation hospital and is educated in treating vision problems associated with concussions, strokes, and acquired brain injuries.

He has sought out additional training with pediatrics and vision therapy because of the positive impact he has seen in patients who have been treated for binocular vision problems. At Idaho Vision Development Center he diagnoses and treats vision difficulties such as tracking issues, double vision, headaches, and lazy or turned eyes. He is passionate about helping others reach their fullest visual potential.

Dr. Nielson is a native of Idaho and is proud to be a part of the Idaho Falls community. He and his beautiful wife Alexis have three charming children who keep him busy when he is not in the office. They enjoy spending time together and outdoor activities in Southeast Idaho.
